bacterial auto-portrait
consists of my own enterobacteria drawn onto the surface of seven large
(6”) agar plates. Invisble for the first few hours, when held
at the appropriate temperature [body temperature, or slightly higher],
the images reveal themselves and flourish over the course of the exhibition.
On the seven plates, the imagery progresses from
a portrait of a single coliform organism->
group of coliform organisms->
intestines->
human form->
group of humans->
earth->
to the cosmos
....all rendered in living media.
